Summer Palace
We also went to the Summer Palace our first afternoon. I knew there was more walking, as all I could think of every time Tom wanted to get us moving was "and we're walking".....probably the exhaustion kicking in there. At least it was a few degrees cooler out at the Summer Palace thanks to the lake. It was very pretty there.
And yes, we tried the duck! Each meal is an adventure and Ray has become the group guinea pig since he'll try anything, though there's no guarentee that even after he's tried the dish that the rest of us will!

Happy Family Day!!!!! Wooo Hoo! Today is the day you've been waiting for (what seems an eternity) Heather, sorry that I forgot to mention that the photos are very slow to download - That is why I usually only do one or two at a time but still seem to spend hours and hours updating my blog. I found a new site for putting photos onto a slideshow - that seems so much faster! Of course it took a few tries to figure that out. So whatever photos you have time to share will be greatly received :) You have a knack for writing and your words have a way of painting a very visual picture so I'm looking forward to hearing more from you about China.
